Inspired by Joseph Cornell‘s assemblages, Rex started looking at every day items and seeing them not as they were but as a thought or emotion they might represent. Looking for some little gem that when juxtaposed with another, might lead to an effect, to a story. His creations might ask questions, might release negative energy, might enlighten. “Insight, Artsight, Art therapy.”

Christine Conrad
Slow News Day

Debra Yapp is a stone and pressed floral artist who with her husband, Bob Yapp, founded their artistic business , Miles From Mainland, in 2008 on Martha’s Vineyard. Her creations show aesthetics inspired by the natural world, with materials collected from the beautiful Vineyard beaches, meadows and woods.

Collage enables me to plan, problem-solve, improvise, and create. It thrills me when disparate elements come together to represent something unexpected. The bird paintings unite my love for them and an exploration of form and color. As the portraits progress, personalities emerge and voices are heard, often in amusing, unpredictable ways...

In a world inundated with data, opinion, and information, CJ’s work contrasts landscape and media asking the viewer to contemplate how information is consumed and consumes.

AH......The Quahaug -- it is everything! Food, work, water, a way of life, a beautiful form and then a treasure to be touched and worn and shared. The shell goes out into the wider world and people ask What is this? and we can say this is from our home, a beautiful place!

Rex Williams

Inspired by Joseph Cornell‘s assemblages, Rex Williams started looking at every day items and seeing them not as they were but as a thought or emotion they might represent. He perused secondhand stores looking for some little gem that juxtaposed with another, might lead to an effect, to a story even. An old bone could be something other than an old bone, a symbol of life or the embodiment of death. His creations might ask questions, might release negative energy, might enlighten. “Insight, Artsight, Art therapy.”
